AGRICULTURE COMMITTEE

By Feryl Treichler

The Ag committee has been meeting at the Berks County Agricultural Center on a regular basis this past year.  The meetings have been attended quite well and interesting topics are brought up for roundtable discussions.

Most of the discussions lead to resolutions from a Subordinate Grange to the Pomona level.

Did you know there were 62 resolutions at the PA State Grange session.  Of these, 16 were presented from Berks County Pomona Grange.

If you would like to attend our meetings, you are welcome!  For times and dates, please call Feryl Treichler, 610-683-8200 or Nettie Kauffman, secretary, 610-926-5389.

BERKS COUNTY JUNIOR GRANGE PRINCESS 2006-07

Hello! My name is Ashley Mohn. I am your 2006-2007 Berks County Junior Grange Princess. I am 13 years old and I am in 7th grade at Conrad Weiser Middle School. My favorite part about Middle school is the nice teachers I have and that my teachers don’t give a lot of homework this year. My favorite subject is Algebra. I love solving the problems.

Besides going to school, I like going to the county fairs and showing my 4H animals. In my free time I enjoy playing the piano, reading, being on the computer and going to the mall. When I grow up, I would like to go to college to become a 1st grade teacher.  I am a member of the Marion Junior Grange and serve as Overseer.

Last summer I was nominated to be a People to People Ambassador and traveled to Australia. It was a wonderful opportunity to be accepted as a student ambassador for the United States. My favorite thing was going to the Australia Zoo and seeing Steve Irwin. I even got to hold a Koala. I had a wonderful experience in Australia and I would love to go back again.

I am having a blast being the 2006-2007 Junior Princess. I am looking forward to seeing all of you at your open house programs.

BERKS COUNTY POMONA SALE

By Feryl Treichler

The 38th Berks County Grange sale is history, and what a success it was!  Our thoughts and plans are now moving forward to our 39th sale.  It is a big project and we always get the job done with ALL the volunteer help.

Please commit yourself and bring your friends along and show them your Grange at work in the community.  The proceeds from the sale are used for community service and events.  Please

help to make it another historic event for 2007—
