DECEMBER POMONA HIGHLIGHTS The quarterly meeting was held December 9 at 6:30 p.m., Fleetwood Grange hall. Here are some of the highlights: * Approved Sale committee to go with a cap of $3,000 gross on nursery items at 20% commission. * Approved $1000 of Sale funds to the special fund created for the Amish/schoolhouse tragedy in Lancaster county. * Gave $50 to the Lewistown Grange and Seipstown Grange appeals. * Resolution to have Pomona match up to $1000 for the Relay for Life team—approved. * Approved $400 Lecturer’s budget for 2007 * Approved the selling of remaining State Session program booklets and portfolios at a cost of $5 for the two items. * Approved the purchase of a phone card for Pomona Secretary for use in her home for Pomona related calls. * Attendance: 38 brothers, 48 sisters, 17 juniors, and 1 mini-junior = 102 * Audit Report was presented and approved * Seven youth helped in the closing degree at State Session * Martha Bollinger, Virginville Grange, was chosen as the 2007 Female Youth Ambassador * 95 individuals were supported in the Angel Tree project * Special bronze pins to the Relay for Life team participants were presented. $124,000 was raised in Berks County. * Contest corner winner—Melissa Weitzel * Remaining State Session funds will be placed in a CD in order to host a session in the future. * $300 contribution to Berks Heim is being used for the “Santa’s Corner” * Received a thank you note from Hamburg Center for monies donated * A total of $1,055 was collected for the Christmas giving (Wernersville State Hospital) = 189 gifts were purchased * Membership to date: 1,534 * 2007 State Session will be held at Genetti Hotel, Williamsport, October 6 –8 * Agriculture Coordinator for Berks County—resolution, approved * State Session Department Exhibits resolution—approved * Resolution concerning Resolutions presented to Pomona—back to committee * Resolution on Size of State’s General Assembly—approved * Juniors made a Christmas calendar and participated in the Angel Tree project—4 children * Juniors went bowling November 26—will have Wolfgang candy and bulb sale fundraiser * Door prizes (six $10 gift certificates to various stores) were distributed * Meeting closed at 9:25 p.m. |
