WALL-HANGING

By Irene Blatt

The Bernville Grange has a unique wall-hanging.  When a former Grange member moved last year, she found a small bag full of strips of cloth with the names of former Grange members embroidered on them in that person’s handwriting.  These people were active Grange members in the 1930’s and 1940’s.  The strips of material were given to the Grange and we decided that a wall-hanging would be a good way to protect and preserve the names.  Evelyn Martin, a good friend of the Bernville Grange, made the wall-hanging.  It is hanging on the second floor of our Grange hall.

At a recent meeting, we dedicated the wall-hanging.  Relatives of the people whose names are on the wall-hanging were invited.  Of the 31 names on the wall-hanging, only 6 names had no relatives present at the dedication.
