Dear Hamburg Grange members, I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I want to personally thank all of you for a successful sixth year and I hope that there are many, many more for the Hamburg Grange! I want to thank the new members that joined us in 2011. I want to thank Denise Clare and Kim Kehs for representing us at the PA State Session in Harrisburg. We have some Grange signs for sale for $2 that you can place in your yard to advertise the Grange. I want to thank all of the members that made the November Pot Pie dinner a success! For the year 2012, I have a few goals and we have some new projects in the works. We are currently at 33 members; the goal is to keep growing by at least 1 member a year. It would be great if we could get to around 50, just think how much better we could serve the Hamburg community. There are some prospects right now, but if you know of anyone who might be interested, invite them to a meeting or an activity. We are hoping to sponsor a membership night. Another goal is to become the organization that people will come to for help and to become the organization to join. We are sponsoring a free movie for the community at the Hamburg Strand Movie Theatre on Saturday, January 28, 2012, from 2-5PM. We will be showing “The Lion King” in conjunction with a membership drive. The snow date is Saturday, February 4, 2012. The Pomona Grange is holding their annual Recognition/Appreciation banquet on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Leesport Farmer’s Banquet Hall starting at 6:45PM with a hot buffet dinner followed by “The Majestics” and a hoedown. If you didn’t receive a guest ticket, you may purchase tickets for the dinner, but also please consider helping at the Pomona Sale. Barb Schroeder is taking charge of a blood drive for Tuesday, February 21, 2012, from 2-8PM. If you would like to donate, lend a hand, or if you know of any donors, please contact Barb @ 562-0980. We will be holding an “All You Can Eat Chicken Pot Pie Dinner” on Saturday, February 18, 2012, from 4-7PM at the Hamburg High School. The snow date is February 25, 2012. We will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Crime Alert Berks County. We will also have a Girl Scout Troop at the dinner selling cookies that you can buy or donate to the troops. We have tickets available to sell before the event; if you sell any, you can earn $1 for every ticket towards your dues. Please contact Michael Adams @ 562-5933 if you want any tickets to sell. Denise Clare will be in charge of the baked goods. Please call her at 562-3876 with your specialties. Let’s all work together to make this a success. Sunday, March 18, 2012, is 1 of our dates to help at Berks Heim to transport the residents to the church service. Anna Heffner is in charge of this; if you can help, give her a call @ 610-207-9755. We usually leave around 12:45PM and get back around 3:30PM. I’m hoping that everyone will be renewing their membership for 2012. If you don’t, I’m sorry to see you leave, but hopefully you will return at a future date. Remember the dues for 2012 will be $35, and they are due as soon as possible to Scott Kreider. If you pre-sell any tickets for the pot pie dinners, or help at the Reading Fair drink stand, you can receive $1 towards your dues. Also, if you haven’t come to any meetings or activities, please consider getting more involved. Finally, we have 2012 Pomona Grange calendars available for everyone; let me know if you want one. Please check the Schedule of Events for all of our activities and all other Grange activities. (The list follows.) Please note that they might change in the future. I will try to keep you informed. In regards to the meetings, Anna Heffner is in charge of refreshments. If any of you would like to take care of a meeting, please pick one and let her know. Fraternally Yours, Michael D.
