The Virginville Grange hall
History of Virginville Grange:

In February 1920, a group of interested citizens from the local area met with Pennsylvania State Grange Deputy, Calvin R. Bagenstose, for the purpose of organizing a Grange in Virginville. The meeting was held on the second floor of a building on the Fred Dreibelbis farm, located south of the village of Virginville. The Grange was officially chartered on February 14, 1920 consisting of 89 charter members.

In November 1922, Virginville Grange moved their meeting place to the third floor of the Joel Dreibelbis home near Virginville. In November 1947, the Grange decided to rent the Virginville Fire Hall for meetings. In February 1950, the Fire Company decided to build new facilities and the members of Virginville Grange voted to purchase the fire hall, our present hall.

On September 6, 1956, the members were in favor of enlarging the hall on the south side. Funds needed for renovations were borrowed from the members. The present structure was dedicated in 1957. In May 1982, members voted to add a one story addition to the front of the hall, including a hallway accessing the restrooms and staircase to the second floor. In June 1983, a storage room was added to the rear of the hall adjacent to the kitchen.

Over the years, there was much discussion to install an elevator in our hall. In 2005, the Building Committee started to meet with an architect. In March 2006, members voted to have the architect draw plans for an addition to the rear of the present building which was to include an elevator, a new entrance, handicapped-accessible restrooms on the first and second floors, and a storage room. A contractor was hired and the work began in April 2006. Dedication ceremonies for the new two-story addition to our building were held on Sunday, April 22, 2007.
